Canvas Online Courses

Our online courses are designed to be taught using the internet. These courses feature 100% online instruction where students and instructors have no face-to-face contact.

Because there are no scheduled sessions in a classroom, success in these courses requires self-discipline. Online coursework provides tremendous flexibility in scheduling; however, most courses still include very rigid project due dates.

Since coursework is provided through the internet only, access to appropriate technology (laptop/computer) is essential.

College credit earned through online courses transfer to other colleges just like traditional on-campus courses.

DC3’s online courses are offered through Canvas. Once you have completed the admissions process and received your login information, you may use MyDC3Web to help you access the platform.

Technology Specifications:

Online courses are offered through Canvas. It is recommended to use a device no older than five years for the best experience, with more powerful devices providing better performance. Canvas runs on Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android, or any device with a modern web browser. It works best on the latest version of Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari and integrates with Google and Office 365 products. Canvas can work with a slow internet connection, but a faster connection will provide a smoother experience.

For optimal performance, ensure your web browser and operating system are updated with the latest security updates and upgrades.

A smartphone can be used to check announcements, assignment due dates, or participate in discussions by downloading the Canvas mobile app and a supported browser. However, some features may be inaccessible on a mobile device, so most coursework should be completed on a laptop or desktop.

Access to Technology:

Computers are available on campus in the library/LRC, Student Achievement Resource Center (SARC), and Tech Lab.

DC3 has been approved to participate in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements.

What is SARA and How Does that Impact Me?

SARA stands for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements. It’s basically an agreement among states, districts and territories that allows courses to flow back and forth across borders as long as they meet the standards. If Dodge City Community College doesn’t have a physical location in a state, then it must abide by that state’s guidelines to offer the course in that state. It is intended to make it easier for you to take online course offerings by another college/university in another state.

Dodge City Community College is new to SARA and has been approved at this time through the Kansas Board of Regents (KBOR).

Kansas was approved by the Midwestern Higher Education Compact (MHEC) on November 16, 2014, to join the Midwestern State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (M-SARA). https://nc-sara.org/ or see http://www.kansasregents.org/academic_affairs/sara for more information.

Dodge City Community College provides information pertaining to professional licensure and certification for all relevant programs to the US Department of Education.

Professional licensure requirements may vary state to state

States vary in what professions they require to be licensed and how licensure or certification functions. Some states require individuals to graduate from an approved program. Others require individuals to meet the requirements of a national organization. Specific amounts of training may also be required as well as passage of an exam based on a state requisite score. Additionally, certain licensed professionals may be required to complete continuing education annually to maintain licensure or certification.

Disclosures based on student location

Dodge City Community College identifies your location based on your college application. Relocating to another state prior to completing your program may affect state licensure requirements. You are advised to contact your program to discuss licensure and certification eligibility requirements. Following relocation, you must update you address by emailing or contacting the Office of Student Records. DCCC will not consider you formally relocated until we receive your notification.

What all students in licensure programs should do

If you live and/or work outside of the United States, you should confirm with the appropriate licensing or certifying agency whether successful completion of any program at DCCC will meet the credentialing requirements of the country in which they intend to seek employment prior to enrolling at DCCC.

Review specific academic requirements for the program in which you are enrolling, including those related to practicum/internships, as well as pre-qualifications for licensure, such as the need for a criminal background check.

Contact the applicable licensure board(s) in your state of residence or in the state where you intend to obtain a license before beginning a program that results in licensure or certification and prior to beginning any practicum/internship.

Many licensing and certifying boards require more than successful degree completion to obtain a license or certification. Please be advised that state laws, regulations, and policies may change at any time, which can impact the program’s ability to meet educational requirements for licensure or certification.
